Breckenridge Brewing

Best for: A unique and affordable venue, ideal for beer lovers

Venue cost: Varies

Breckenridge Brewing is a great spot if you want to have a micro wedding in Breckenridge or a celebration with loved ones after your elopement. It’s also one of the most affordable venues in Colorado.

The ceremony space is outdoors, and there are two indoor spaces to choose from for a reception. You could also get married just the two of you, then rent the space to have a party with loved ones afterward.

The Great Room is semi-private and accommodates up to 100 seated or 130 standing guests. There’s no rental fee, but there’s a minimum food and beverage cost.

The Tour Tasting Room has an indoor and outdoor area and is entirely private. There’s space for 40 seated guests or 75 standing guests. You can rent the Tour Tasting Room for $150 during the week or $250 on the weekends.

The Lodge at Breckenridge is one of the best small wedding venues in Colorado, especially if you’re looking for an elopement location with accommodations. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful and romantic getaway with your love and also has room for loved ones, including your pets, to join you.

Sapphire Point Overlook is just outside of Breckenridge in Dillon, Colorado. It’s one of my favorite Colorado elopement venues, whether you’re working with a budget, want your dog to join you, or simply want a stunning place to exchange your vows.

The overlook sits at an elevation of about 10,000 feet, surrounded by picture-perfect mountain scenery. It’s an incredible spot to go to with just your love or invite a few loved ones – there’s space for up to 30 guests. You can no longer bring chairs to Sapphire Point Overlook, but your photographer can guide your guests on where to stand.

Sapphire Point Overlook is a popular elopement and wedding venue, so you’ll want to make reservations early. You can book up to six months before your elopement day.

Hoosier Pass

Best for: A unique elopement experience

Venue cost: Free unless you’re having a wedding ceremony

Hoosier Pass is a high mountain pass on Highway 9 between Breckenridge and Fairplay. It’s a magical area to explore with mountain and lake scenery for a fun and unique elopement.

If you and your partner enjoy adventures, Hoosier Pass also has hiking trails and winter activities. If you plan to invite loved ones to your elopement, you may need a permit since the pass is a part of the White River National Forest.

Boreas Pass

Best for: An off-the-beaten-path experience with epic scenery

Venue cost: Free

Boreas Pass is another high mountain pass in central Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. It’s a bit less crowded than Hoosier Pass but is similar with its scenic views and hiking trails.

Eloping at Boreas Pass is free, and it’s the perfect place to explore and enjoy an adventurous elopement experience. There are tons of places to exchange your vows and take stunning photos. There are also designated spots for dispersed camping if you want to plan a camping elopement

You can elope in Breckenridge year-round, and every season offers a special experience!

Here’s what you can expect for each season, depending on when you want to get married and the experience you’re looking for:

  • Winter If you enjoy winter and snow activities, Breckenridge is the place to be. It’s known as one of the best ski resort areas and it’s the perfect place for a winter wonderland elopement.
  • Spring – During late spring, as the snow starts to melt and after Spring Break ends, there are fewer crowds. This is a good time to enjoy lower costs and cool weather.
  • Summer – A summer elopement is ideal if you want to enjoy warm weather and colorful landscapes. This time of year can get busy in Breckenridge, so I recommend eloping during the week to avoid crowds.
Fall – This is also a magical time of year in Breckenridge! The colorful aspen trees and fall foliage are beautiful, and there are fewer crowds, especially during September.

Helpful Tips for a Breckenridge Elopement

Make the most of your dreamy Breckenridge elopement with the following tips:

  • Marriage license – Colorado is one of the easiest states to get married in, and the marriage license process is quite simple. Before your ceremony, go to any County Clerk’s office with your photo ID and complete the necessary paperwork. You can also self-solemnize your marriage in Colorado – meaning you don’t need any witnesses or an officiant.
  • Getting around – The best way to get around Breckenridge is by car. You can also rent jeeps for off-roading. If you’re flying to Colorado, the Denver International Airport is about two hours from Breckenridge, and you can rent a car once you arrive.
  • Accommodations – Breckenridge has many places to stay, including Airbnbs, hotels, ski resorts, and campgrounds.
  • Pets – If you want to bring your pet, you’re in luck because there are many dog-friendly elopement locations in Breckenridge. Be sure to plan accordingly when bringing your dog, especially if you’re having an adventure elopement. For example, you’ll want to consider their activity level and hire a photographer who’s good with dogs – like myself!
  • Leave No Trace – It’s crucial to follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve Breckenridge’s natural beauty and leave minimal impact.

“Brooke was the perfect choice for our wedding day! We had a micro wedding at Sapphire Point in August. I had never been to Sapphire Point and Brooke was so helpful suggesting vendors, picture locations, parking, marriage license info etc. She was so kind and helpful before and during the whole process and was a large part of why the day went so smooth. She does so much more than just show up and take pictures, Brooke will truly go out of her way to make your wedding day perfect! The photos are gorgeous and I keep getting so many compliments! I truly cannot recommend her enough!”

"Brooke was a large part of why our day went so smooth and will truly go out of her way to make your wedding day perfect!"

We chose Brooke to capture our Colorado elopement and she did exactly that and more. She made it easy to plan our day out with locations and timelines so that we could focus on ourselves. We decided last minute to change our afternoon/evening elopement to a 6am sunrise one so beat the heat of the day. Brooke accommodated us without hesitation and even created a new timeline for us so that we knew where to be for the perfect sunrise. She was kind and understood what we wanted in terms of our elopement and we are so grateful to have her capture the day. Our photos turned out beautiful and truly helped us relive the day. I would recommend Brooke to anyone wanting their special day photographed.

Brooke not only photographed our mountain elopement beautifully, but she put so much thought into the details and knew all of the answers the questions I didn’t even know to ask. She really puts a lot of thought into each photo and brings her expertise while still remaining very open to what we wanted and ideas we had. She even helped pick the perfect spot for us and advised us on the logistical details like securing a reservation at the mountain lake where we wanted our ceremony. She is SO easy to work with and very friendly and chill. My husband and I are super awkward in front of a camera but she made it so natural and easy - and the shots came out better than we could have imagined.

Brooke is many things; talented, calm, flexible, experienced/ knowledgeable, patient, incredibly responsive, organized, resourceful in a pinch, supportive, creative, professional yet a blast to work with, and goes above & beyond w her clients. Our wedding was a spectacular dream and we couldn't be more grateful that she made that single day last forever. Whether she's photographing nature or an intimate event, her pictures tell a story of peace, love, whatever your vision may be. We couldn't recommend her more and we look forward to booking with her for all of our vow renewals, seasonal and family pictures for as long as she'll have us.

Working with Brooke was a dream come true! Before we even met, my husband Brent and I were impressed by her portfolio. After meeting, we were even more convinced that her photography skills and knowledge, and her fun and easygoing personality were exactly what we were looking for in an elopement photographer. Brooke was able to take our vision and facilitate everything so that it worked out beautifully, especially when it came to finding the perfect location (the incredible mountains surrounding Ouray). Throughout the entire planning process, she was honest and flexible, and made it clear that her goal was for us to be 100% happy. In the end, her creativity and our happiness totally shine through in every single photo.

"Throughout the entire planning process, she was honest and flexible."

I can't begin to express my gratitude for the intimacy and beauty behind Brooke's photographs. In capturing our wedding day, she went above and beyond to document our story, our families, and the depths of our love in ways that I'll forever be grateful for. Brooke has an eye for not only capturing the adventure and magic of your love, but deeply connects with your personal story, understands your relationship, and then gives that back in the most incredible way. She is truly an artist and tells your story in an authentic and creative way for you to look back on for years to come. We are forever grateful to Brooke for spending the time to get to know us, our story, and capturing the memories that we'll relive for years to come.

“If you're contemplating which photographer to go with, THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO CHOOSE BROOKE!!!! She is so so so talented and was able to capture our elopement exactly how I pictured and wanted! We eloped in Ridgway, CO this past September and she was so helpful figuring out picture locations, recommendations of timeline for the day, and just made the whole day feel so smooth. She schedules multiple check ins, phone calls, etc., leading up to the big day to ensure everything is as you want it. Brooke has such a calming, down to earth presence and is one of those awesome people you feel like you've known forever after just the first time of meeting."
