With so many unique and beautiful locations, Denver is one of the best cities in Colorado for an engagement session. In this article, I’m sharing the best places for Denver engagement photos.
As a Denver local and photographer who loves working with couples to capture one of the most memorable chapters of their lives, I’ve explored the best places for engagement pictures. Below, I’ll share scenic parks, vibrant neighborhoods, modern locations, and hidden gems.
I’ll also answer common questions about engagement photos and discuss Denver engagement photography packages.
Denver has many incredible places for taking engagement pictures, including various parks, trendy neighborhoods, and an art museum.
City Park is Denver’s version of New York’s Central Park. It’s the perfect place to take engagement photos with picturesque nature and city views.
This is one of Denver’s most popular parks and has green spaces, picnic areas, lakeside trails, and a picture-perfect cityscape. The scenery depends on the time of year, but the trees are colorful during fall, while late spring and early summer bring vibrant flowers.
Wash Park has unique architecture and green spaces, making it an ideal place to take Denver engagement photos.
The park has flower gardens, trails, and two gorgeous lakes. This is also an amazing spot if you want stunning sunset engagement pictures.
Sloans Lake is Denver’s largest lake, and the park is surrounded by lake and mountain views. It’s also a cool spot for adventure couples because you can go paddleboarding and kayaking.
If you want to take engagement photos in Denver with an artsy vibe, RiNo is an incredible location.
RiNo is the trendy, lively area of Denver with impressive street art. The streets are also lined with eclectic shops, cafes, and bars.
It’s easy to explore RiNo and take unique photos that capture you and your love in the most fun ways.
For engagement photos with a diverse, urban feel, check out Downtown Denver. I love doing engagement shoots in this area because there are so many cool indoor and outdoor photo ops.
LoDo (Lower Downtown) is the hip, bustling downtown area with tons of shops, restaurants, and breweries. Wandering around the area, making stops along the way, and posing with your love make for a memorable experience!
Union Station, the main railway station and transportation hub, is in the heart of downtown Denver and offers a classic and historic vibe. It’s also known as Denver’s living room, where you can shop, dine, and sleep.
This is the perfect engagement photo location on its own or to stop during a downtown photo adventure.
The Crawford Hotel, inside Union Station, is a perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Denver for your engagement photos.
Larimer Square is also in downtown Denver and is an excellent location for couples who enjoy a buzzing city life.
Explore and take photos in front of Victorian buildings, surrounded by unique city lights hanging in the streets and vibrant shops and restaurants.
Cheesman Park is a fantastic location if you’re looking for a peaceful area for your Denver engagement photos. It’s in one of Denver’s quiet neighborhoods and has green spaces. The park also has a pavilion, which makes for an elegant photo op.
Denver Botanic Gardens is one of the most diverse gardens in the country. It’s filled with colorful gardens and is the perfect place to take engagement photos in the city but tucked away for tranquility.
If a modern, artistic setting is up your alley, the Denver Art Museum is a gorgeous location for engagement photos in Denver.
While you can’t take photos in the galleries and exhibition places, you can pose in common areas and outside the museum, where there’s stunning architecture.

Let’s explore more of what it’s like to have engagement photos in Denver, from the best time of year and pet-friendly locations to what to wear and costs.
The best time of year for your engagement pictures in Denver varies based on the experience you’re looking for. Each season offers a special but different vibe.
Here’s a rundown of what you can expect throughout the year for photos in Denver:
While every season has something unique to offer, my favorite time for an engagement session in Denver is fall! It’s the perfect season for cuddling up with your love, grabbing a cup of coffee in a local shop, and strolling through a park in the city. What’s more romantic than that?
City Park, Wash Park, and Sloan’s Lake Park are the best pet-friendly places to take engagement pictures in Denver. These are all beautiful locations that allow leashed pets.
You should take engagement photos six months to a year before your wedding. This timing lets you get your photos back to share with loved ones, use for announcements, and showcase at your wedding.
It’s best to wear colors that match the location’s vibe and your style. You can wear coordinating colors with your partner, but not so much you clash. For timeless photos, solid, neutral colors are ideal.
That said, there aren’t any hard rules for what you wear for engagement photos. What matters is that you love your experience and pictures!
I share a Pinterest outfit inspiration board with couples I work with to help you choose your ideal look.
Denver engagement photos usually cost about $750, but exact fees depend on the length of the shoot and your photographer’s experience.

“Brooke was the perfect choice for our wedding day! We had a micro wedding at Sapphire Point in August. I had never been to Sapphire Point and Brooke was so helpful suggesting vendors, picture locations, parking, marriage license info etc. She was so kind and helpful before and during the whole process and was a large part of why the day went so smooth. She does so much more than just show up and take pictures, Brooke will truly go out of her way to make your wedding day perfect! The photos are gorgeous and I keep getting so many compliments! I truly cannot recommend her enough!”

We chose Brooke to capture our Colorado elopement and she did exactly that and more. She made it easy to plan our day out with locations and timelines so that we could focus on ourselves. We decided last minute to change our afternoon/evening elopement to a 6am sunrise one so beat the heat of the day. Brooke accommodated us without hesitation and even created a new timeline for us so that we knew where to be for the perfect sunrise. She was kind and understood what we wanted in terms of our elopement and we are so grateful to have her capture the day. Our photos turned out beautiful and truly helped us relive the day. I would recommend Brooke to anyone wanting their special day photographed.

Brooke not only photographed our mountain elopement beautifully, but she put so much thought into the details and knew all of the answers the questions I didn’t even know to ask. She really puts a lot of thought into each photo and brings her expertise while still remaining very open to what we wanted and ideas we had. She even helped pick the perfect spot for us and advised us on the logistical details like securing a reservation at the mountain lake where we wanted our ceremony. She is SO easy to work with and very friendly and chill. My husband and I are super awkward in front of a camera but she made it so natural and easy - and the shots came out better than we could have imagined.

Brooke is many things; talented, calm, flexible, experienced/ knowledgeable, patient, incredibly responsive, organized, resourceful in a pinch, supportive, creative, professional yet a blast to work with, and goes above & beyond w her clients. Our wedding was a spectacular dream and we couldn't be more grateful that she made that single day last forever. Whether she's photographing nature or an intimate event, her pictures tell a story of peace, love, whatever your vision may be. We couldn't recommend her more and we look forward to booking with her for all of our vow renewals, seasonal and family pictures for as long as she'll have us.

Working with Brooke was a dream come true! Before we even met, my husband Brent and I were impressed by her portfolio. After meeting, we were even more convinced that her photography skills and knowledge, and her fun and easygoing personality were exactly what we were looking for in an elopement photographer. Brooke was able to take our vision and facilitate everything so that it worked out beautifully, especially when it came to finding the perfect location (the incredible mountains surrounding Ouray). Throughout the entire planning process, she was honest and flexible, and made it clear that her goal was for us to be 100% happy. In the end, her creativity and our happiness totally shine through in every single photo.
"Throughout the entire planning process, she was honest and flexible."

I can't begin to express my gratitude for the intimacy and beauty behind Brooke's photographs. In capturing our wedding day, she went above and beyond to document our story, our families, and the depths of our love in ways that I'll forever be grateful for. Brooke has an eye for not only capturing the adventure and magic of your love, but deeply connects with your personal story, understands your relationship, and then gives that back in the most incredible way. She is truly an artist and tells your story in an authentic and creative way for you to look back on for years to come. We are forever grateful to Brooke for spending the time to get to know us, our story, and capturing the memories that we'll relive for years to come.

“If you're contemplating which photographer to go with, THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO CHOOSE BROOKE!!!! She is so so so talented and was able to capture our elopement exactly how I pictured and wanted! We eloped in Ridgway, CO this past September and she was so helpful figuring out picture locations, recommendations of timeline for the day, and just made the whole day feel so smooth. She schedules multiple check ins, phone calls, etc., leading up to the big day to ensure everything is as you want it. Brooke has such a calming, down to earth presence and is one of those awesome people you feel like you've known forever after just the first time of meeting."
